Teaching Areas

Thermodynamics

The study of energy use within engineered systems

Sustainability

How to engineer systems to minimize their negative impact on the physical environment

Building Energy Systems

How energy is used within the built environment to heat and cool structures and how to maximize the energy efficiency of such systems

Research Interests

Pedagogy of teaching sustainability

How to effectively teach the principles of sustainable design to college students, given their varied backgrounds and interest levels. In particular, how do you use elements of the humanities such as visual art and current events topics to increase student engagement?
